16 Neuburg an der Donau – Ingolstadt
Start Neuburg a.d. Donau
The round tour begins in Neuburg an der Donau with its renaissance and baroque ensemble and leads west in the direction of Rennertshofen to the outskirts of the Franconian Alb. Near Rennertshofen we take a right into the Urdonautal valley and find ourselves in the nature park Altmühltal. After Hütting we take a right onto the Schuttertal cycle path. On the way, there is a great opportunity to stop at the Heilig-Kreuz church in Bergen. The way from Nassenfels to Buxheim alongside the idyllic Schutter is a very special expericence of nature. On the last part of the way, we experience the slow transition from country to the city of Ingolstadt. We leave the vibrant car city south of the Danube through the Danube meadows, partly on paved roads with little traffic. The following section leads from Ingolstadt to Weichering. From there we follow curved country lanes and avenues up until the castle Grünau with its informational center on the Donauauwald (Danube meadow forest). On the last kilometers we make our way back on the Danube dam to our starting point in the city center of Neuburg.
