The Danube, which is often described as a „pulsating lifeline“, is one of the most important features of our region. The marked loop path „the changing Danube“ tells the story of the evolvement, expansion, and meaning of the river and at the same time, teaches you about the technology and surroundings through numerous information boards. Starting at Straubing’s barrage, the path leads along the dam crest for nearly 50 km, up until Pfatter and then back again on the other side of the Danube. The path mainly consists of water-bound gravel roads and promises an adventurous and at the same time relaxing ride with remarkable surroundings and great views of the city of Straubing and the heights of the Bavarian Forest.
