Jura trail - Roman meander
Bad Gögging (circular route)
Starting in Bad Gögging, you will hike through a nice heath and meadow landscape. After crossing a sulphurous creek and a small chapel, the trail soon follows the river Abens. For 1.5 kilometres, the path leads along a flood dam. After hiking on natural trails, you will reach the Roman fort "Abusina" which represented the eastern border of the Limes. A wonderful beer garden waits for you in Eining. After another kilometre along the Danube, the trails leads slightly uphill to the Sandberg mountain with remains of a Roman legion camp. Broad dry hills define the scenery until the hop gardens prevail again in Bad Gögging. Before the route leads back to the Abens bridge, a visit of the St. Andreas church in the old town with a worth seeing Roman bathing museum is recommended.
